Apologies to the eldritch horror, but trivia takes precedence
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
More crazy news from the weird woods! So I finished cleanin out the black tar from my Airstream, when what do I find underneath it all but … a hatch! A hatch to where? Heck, that’s what I’D like to know!
I’m at least, like, 60% sure there wasn’t a hatch there when I set out on this whole journey. But, OK, maybe I missed it, it’s true I’ve been known to be a li’l unobservant. But lemme tell ya, every 10 or 15 minutes there’s a big THUNK THUNK THUNK that rattles the hatch, & I’m POSITIVE I’d’ve remembered somethin like THAT—
Wait one sec, I just heard somethin …
Well ain’t that somethin! There’s a voice comin from the other side of the hatch. It kinda sounds like it’s comin from a million miles away, from the bottom of the ocean, screamin to be heard through an ocean of … of liquid light? Light. Light.
Liquid light???
Llight
seepin through the cracks …
Is that … what’s it sayin— what’s that
join me

Answers to Last Time
- Those spots on wild cats (like that newly identified Tilcayo) are called rosettes.
- Hopefully yesterday’s temp conversion question wasn’t too rough: if ya remembered that 212ºF = 100ºC – that bein the temperature that water boils at – then even if ya didn’t know the exact conversion formula, maybe ya were able to figure 230ºF was somethin like 110ºC. (I asked ya to round to the nearest multiple of ten, but that wasn’t actually necessary, ’cause 230ºF = 110ºC on the dot.)
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Critters in the reptilian subfamily called Crotalinae get their more common name NOT from where they live, but from the organ they’ve got on their heads that lets ’em detect infrared radiation. What’s that organ called?
Trivia 2
Ya can see notable installations of a certain type of device at spots all ’round the world, includin at the U.N. General Assembly Building in NYC, the Griffith Observatory in L.A., & the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris. They even put one up at the Amundsen–Scott research station down at the South Pole! Which was particularly neat, ’cause ya can make a pretty reasonable argument that that’s the best spot to set one up at. What type of device am I talkin ’bout?
OK then
