Scaramouche, Scaramouche, can you do the fandango?
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Welcome to a new week, youse guys! We’re already mostly through May, which is CRAZYSAUCE.
Anyways, I’ve been lookin’ into what it takes to open up a new movie theater. Lemme tell ya, it makes pretty much no financial sense! But the good news is that netiher does runnin’ a restaurant, which is what I’m doin’ already, so a movie theater’d be more of a lateral move than a downgrade.
Answers to Last Time
Last week’s themie was a bit of a jape, ’cause we were talkin’ clowns ’n’ jokers!
- Clown in a Cornfield is a slasher movie bout ... well, a clown that kills teens out in a cornfield.
- Nikola Jokić ’n’ Novak Djokovic are both athletes from Serbia who’re nicknamed “Joker”.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Who’s the light-hearted, checker-coated clown from the Italian commedia dell’arte? He’s mischievous, he’s a trickster, an’ he always seems to manage to woo the lovely Colombina away from gloomy ol’ Pierrot. (Or maybe Colombina’s the one doin’ the wooin’? I dunno. It’s been a while since I saw one a’ those commedias.)
Trivia 2
A li’l while back I saw this puppet show by an Italian fella callin’ himself “Signor Bologna”. I was livin’ in London at the time an’ spent a lotta my time hangin’ ’round the Covent Garden neighborhood. I remember that show in particular ’cause it was maybe the first time I’d ever seen a commedia dell’arte thing happenin’ outside a’ Italy.
Well, it musta caught on, ’cause after a li’l while I started seein’ these puppet booths poppin’ up all over the place! Folks seemed particularly drawn to one puppet, a crookedy hunchbacked guy who looked like he was based on the commedia character known as Pulcinella.
I still see these things when I’m in the U.K.—’specially at seaside towns, where kids ’n’ adults alike would gather ’round to watch!

Well, can any a’ youse guys tell me: who are those two li’l puppet folks?
OK then
