What is a chair, is what I wanna know
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
We’re closin out April this week, which’ll bring us officially one third of the way through 2026! Boy, that march of time just KEEPS ON GOIN, don’t it?
Answers to Last Time
- Mahershala Ali’s full first name is Mahershalalhashbaz, which is a prophetic name in Isaiah that’s also got the distinction of maybe bein the longest word in the Bible. (It kinda depends on what transliteration choices ya make.)
- Baba Yaga is the lady who lives in a hut on chicken legs out in the Slavic wilderness.
The mini-theme there was “Ali Baba”, which I guess kinda rounded out our week of Thousand Nights references that started out with me findin Gene the Djinn in that ol’ ICEE machine.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
A classic “Chicago-style” hot dog is an all-beef frank served in a poppy seed bun with this septet of toppin’s:
- yellow mustard
- relish (neon green preferred)
- chopped onions
- a coupla tomato wedges
- a pickle spear
- sport peppers
- & a dash of what?
(Quick tip: your answer should be two words long.)
If ya have any leftover, ya can use it the next time ya make a Bloody Mary – or, honestly, just make another Chicago-style hot dog! Can’t go wrong with more hot dogs, eh?
Trivia 2
Is a hot dog a sandwich?
I dunno! I mean, what even IS a sandwich, y’know? It strikes me as one of those “know-it-when-ya-see-it” type things, like “what is a game?” or “what is art?” or “what is fascism?” or “what is soup?” It’s the sorta thing that skirts a super clean & tidy definition.
What philosopher discoursed on these sorts of “language-games” & Familienähnlichkeiten (“family resemblances”) in his posthumously published Philosophical Investigations?
OK then
