Did I ever tell you the time I pranked ol’ Archimedes? This had to be back in— ah, what was it, the third century BCE??
Jeez, time really flies, don’t it???
Anyways, I knew how Archie liked to take these real long baths. First thing after he came home, he’d fill the tub up with near-boilin water, eat dinner while it cooled down a bit, then finally slip in for a nice relaxing wind-down.
Thing was, he always filled the tub up to the EXACT SAME SPOT every night. He even had a little line carved around the edge of it so he could get the level exactly right every time. He was a real stickler for that sorta thing, ... & I dunno why, but it drove me up the wall!1
So one night when I’m over for a meal, I ’scuse myself for a pit stop—and then secretly I filled his tub ALL THE WAY to the VERY TIPPY TOP!
Then back over the dinner table Arch yammers on about this job his boss gave him, it had to do with measurin some kinda crown, makin sure it was made of 100% gold or somethin. After his whole borin story, I say goodnight & ol’ Archie leaves to go into his bath—which, ya gotta remember, is full right up to the brim—& I go on my own merry way, snickerin to myself ’bout how the water’s gonna splash everywhere as soon as Arch hops in & it’s sure gonna give him one heckuva startle.
Well, maybe ya already know how this story turns out? Just a few minutes later I see Archie streakin ’cross town in his birthday suit there, shoutin what word at the top of his lungs?

1 I don’t think I’d’ve minded the tub thing so much except for the fact that ol’ Archie was kinda anal about EVERYTHING. So the tub kinda became a stand-in for his whole overall persnicketiness. But in fairness to Arch, I was also just kinda petty & immature back then. I mean, it was a couple millennia ago, I had lotsa growin up to do still. ⬏
