I know it’s not a new observation, but that scene in the tunnel is WILD to have in a kids’ movie

Answers to Last Time
- It was author William Sydney Porter, a.k.a. O. Henry, who coined the phrase “banana republic”. That’s a neat li’l factoid, right? I could totally see that comin up in some kinda trivia game in the future! I think it’s a good one to tuck into the memory banks.
- It was the Ever Given that blocked up the Suez Canal a coupla years back.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
In addition to finding canals in Suez, Panama, & other geographical type places, ya can also find canals in ... YOUR BODY!!
One place in particular is the eye. Yep, eyes: those organs that we’ve all definitely got!1 Gooey, slimy, weird bulbs just twistin around in your orbitals ...
*shudder*
Anyways, there’s somethin called the “canal of Schlemm” in your eye—which, in addition to just bein a real fun thing to say, is also I guess useful in transportin the eye’s aqueous humor around to various places where it’s needed.
You know the aqueous humor? I mean, I’m sure ya do, we’re all normal eye-having human beings here. But in case ya missed that day in biology, the short version is it’s the fluidy stuff in front of the lens that helps maintain intraocular pressure.
But that ain’t the only humor in the eye! Nah, it’s got a whole OTHER humor in it.2 What’s this other humor, which fills the space between the lens & the retina? It’s less, well, aqueous than the aqueous humor, more of a clear glassy jelly really, which is why it’s sometimes called a “body” instead of a “humor”.
Trivia 2
Shifting gears entirely: can ya tell me what Roman architect from the 1st century BCE wrote the book De architectura, which is generally regarded as the earliest survivin book on architectural theory? In it, he discourses on the importance of stuff like strength, beauty, utility, & perfect proportions.
Now, architecture buffs might know him from that bit of trivia alone ... but the rest of us I think are more familiar with his name in the context of a famous drawing done by an Italian fella who was working about a millennium & a half later.
OK then
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
1 Unless, I dunno, maybe ya had ’em plucked outta your noggin? In which case ... ah jeez, I’m really sorry that happened to ya. Like, seriously! That sounds pretty traumatizing. We can ... oh, right, OK. Yeah. Yeah, we don’t have to talk about it anymore. Sorry for bringing it up. ⬏
2 A real joker, that ol’ eye is! ⬏
