Skeleton Trivia for Thursday, 2026-04-16
If you’re reaction to Trivia 2 is “this guy sounds kind of unpleasant,” well, you’re not wrong!
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Happy Thursday! I found the craziest thing in the closet behind the concession stand today.[1] It’s an old ICEE machine! But the nozzle on the Blue Raspberry flavor is all crudded up with some kinda substance, it almost looks like some kinda fancy epoxy or lead sealant or something? And it’s got some kinda seal embossed into it …
Answers to Last Time
- Mr. Frank Beard is the only beardless guy in the otherwise famously bewhiskered band ZZ Top. Oh, the irony!
- It’s Doug Bowser who was in charge of Nintendo of America for all those years. Y’know, Bowser, like … King Koopa? Y’know, the big bad villain who’s Mario’s nemesis?
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
When ya render pork fat – i.e., purify it by gettin rid of as much of the non-fat stuff as possible – ya get lard. Likewise, rendered chicken fat becomes schmaltz & rendered butter becomes ghee. But what does rendered suet (the fat from around sheep or cattle kidneys) become?
Trivia 2
Who directed & starred in the movie Buffalo ’66?
This writer-actor-director-musician also one time got into a kinda famous I guess ya’d call it a feud with Roger Ebert. It was concernin his movie The Brown Bunny, which after it screened at Cannes Mr. Ebert said it was the worst movie in the history of the festival!
Harsh words from a critic, I get it. But then this fella went kinda outta pocket & called Ebert “a fat pig with the physique of a slave trader” – yikes! – but Ebert had a good comeback, he said: “although I am fat, one day I will be thin, but Mr. [REDACTED] will still be the director of The Brown Bunny.” Zing!
Anyways, I guess he re-cut The Brown Bunny & Ebert thought the new edit was a lot better & gave it a three-star review. So, uh— well, I guess if there’s a lesson to be learned here, it’s that … editing is important?
But so who even is this guy? That’s what I wanna know!
OK then

For any of youse guys who’re new readers: my day job is runnin a movie theater in town, I call it the Skeletodeon. Or sometimes I call it the Skeleplex? It kinda depends on how many screens we’ve got runnin that day, which is anywhere between one and a number my calculator likes to call “NaN”. It’s … it’s a kinda complicated setup. ↩︎
