Today’s an excitin day: my pal, Vermes, is gettin married! Ain’t that excitin???
MSTZ old-timers might remember Vermes back when he surreptitiously usurped my newsletter for a week & made it all about seafarin stuff. Not the nicest way to meet a fella, but oh well! Ya can’t hold a grudge against a fella forever, right?
Well, at some point I’d heard he’d gotten fired from his job at that awful Seafood Shack down the street, the one that Cap’n Nemo Toad runs, so I sent him a li’l fruit basket. After all, I figured anyone who got fired by that smarmy, two-timin good-for-nothin – Cap’n Nemo Toad, I mean – was probably doin something right!
Anyways, turns out I had good timin, ’cause the fruit basket helped him with a bout of scurvy he was dealin with! So then he invited me out on his boat, & we had one of the craziest adventures I can remember—
Ah, but heck, I’m runnin late & I don’t wanna get sidetracked tellin ya that whole dang long story! So instead, let’s get on with the trivia, eh?

Trivia 2
I mentioned yesterday how the board game Terraforming Mars had all sortsa real-life Martian landmarks on it. One landmark I did NOT mention, though, was Olympus Mons, since I guess that’s located on a part of the planet that’s just cut offa what the game board shows.
If Olympus Mons rings any bells for ya, I bet it’s on account of how it’s the tallest mountain in the whole dang solar system.[1] But didja know that Mars has also got a physiographic record-holder on the other side of the ledger, i.e., the largest canyon in the solar system? That one IS on the Terraforming Mars map, though it’s not labeled as just one thing but instead as a buncha connected sub-canyons – stuff like Melas Chasma & Capri Chasma & whatnot.
ANYWAY, what’s the name of this big honkin Martian canyon, the largest in the solar system?
