Mister Skeleton’s Movie Palace???

Hiya Skeleton Crew,

I’m thinkin’ maybe I’ll close up my restaurant ’n’ open up ... an indie movie theater!!

I dunno. Is that crazy? I seems like it’d maybe be kinda crazy. But ... I kinda really wanna do that?

Ah jeez, ah jeez, lots to think ’bout.

Answers to Last Time

  • If you’re studyin’ your SAT vocab, ya could do worse than add the word jejune to your list: it means “naive, simplistic, and superficial” an’ it’s cognate with jejunum, the second part a’ the small intestine.
  • Rembrandt (Van Rijn) painted the masterpiece that’s called The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp.

Today’s Trivias

Trivia 1

Most everyone an’ their brother knows that The Rembrandts recorded “I’ll Be There for You”, i.e. that song that was the theme to Friends. Maybe a li’l less well known is their 1990 single “Just the Way It Is, Baby”, which managed to hit number 14 on the Billboard charts in 1990. But I guess those two songs were enough for Rolling Stone to put The Rembrandts at #20 on their list a’ the 20 greatest TWO-hit wonders a’ all time.

What artist landed at #12 on Rolling Stone’s two-hit wonders list? They cited her 1967 single “Society's Child (Baby I've Been Thinking)” an’ her 1975 single “At Seventeen” as her two hits. “At Seventeen” is all about high school angst ’n’ stuff, which I’m guessin’ is how Lizzy Caplan’s character from Mean Girls ended up havin’ the same name as this singer.

Trivia 2

A li’l while back, “Edge of Seventeen” singer Stevie Nicks posted this message from her Instagram:

In 1980 I was flying home from Phoenix Arizona and I was handed a menu that said, “The [REDACTED] sings a song that sounds like she’s singing ooh, ooh, ooh. She makes her home here in the great Saguaro cactus that provides shelter and protection for her...”

Later in the post she admits to havin’ never actually heard that animal’s song herself—at least, not ’til 2020, when she posted that message.

What animal, native to the Southwestern U.S. an’ which has the science name Zenaida asiatica, did I redact from that post?

OK then

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

If ya give me your email address, I’ll send some trivias to ya! No joke!!!
