When even Gaea is getting irked, you know you’ve messed up
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Y’know, I don’t think we’ve heard from any of the extended Skeleton Trivia family lately! Longtime readers’ll remember that we’ve had visits from a sentient A.I. named Sophia, a non-corporeal body-hoppin spirit named Curtis, a pirate named Vermes, my dear bro W. Skeleton-Boney, plus my good pals Jen & Roy & Milo who sometimes show up.
I’m not mentioning it for any particular reason. I just noticed I ain’t heard from any of those guys lately, is all!
Anyway, on with the trivias.
Answers to Last Time
- Evangelos Papathanassiou – who ya might know better by his stage name, Vangelis — did the soundtracks for Blade Runner and Chariots of Fire.
- Those folks I mentioned yesterday were all European Central Bank presidents.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Lemme tell ya, a chariot of fire is a lot trickier to manage than ya might expect! The most famous example of this probably being poor li’l Phaethon, who asked his dad to drive the Chariot of the Sun for just one day. It, uh ... it didn’t go so good.
See, basically, Phaethon couldn’t keep the chariot on track: it got too close & burned up the earth, then it got too far & froze everything. The stars started complaining, then the sky bellyached too, & even Gaea said to Zeus, “this has GOT to stop”! So Zeus zapped Phaethon & he – well, I won’t sugarcoat it, he got barbecued.
Anyways, who was Phaethon’s Titanic dad, the Greek personification of the sun?
Trivia 2
Since we’re talkin chariots, do ya know what’s the specific word for a chariot pulled by four horses? It’s from the Latin for – surprise! – “four yokes”.
OK then
