In which Mister Skeleton has an idiosyncratic conception of ”family-friendly”
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
It’s day three of four of our crazy special-edition weeklong1 theme! WHAT ON EARTH COULD IT BE???
This week I’m doin a family-friendly double feature at the Skeletodeon! One of the movies is Kubo and the Two Strings, remember that one? It was about a kid named Kubo who had a magical shamisen that could do cool stuff with origamis. So I figured it could be like a good opportunity to set up some origami stations in the lobby for the kiddos to enjoy! Good clean family-friendly stuff, eh?
For the second movie I figure I’ll stick with the origami theme & go with Blade Runner. Who doesn’t enjoy a li’l sci fi, y’know?

- In a healthcare context, SLP’s gonna stand for speech-language pathology (though I also see it sometimes with an & instead of that hyphen between speech & language).
- A piano’s action is how it feels to press down on the keys, while a guitar’s is the distance between the strings & the fretboard.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Some folks think the word behemoth comes from the Egyptian word for a hippopotamus, & occasionally ya might see someone claim that leviathan originally referred to a croc—but honestly, they both basically mean “big giant chaos monster” in modern English. What Bible book mentions both of ’em? (Hint: it ain’t Revelation.)
Trivia 2
Which Space Shuttle was the one they built to replace the Challenger? It was named for Cap’n Cook’s boat that he took to observe the transit of Venus from Tahiti, which makes for a nice li’l astronomical connection there.
OK then
