Skeleton Trivia for Wednesday, 2025-05-28

If it was discovered a day later it’d’ve been Sport for Development and Peace Island

Hiya Skeleton Crew,

I dunno ’bout youse guys, but my allergies are absolutely killin’ me this year! It’s the worst!!!

Answers to Last Time

  • It was on Easter Sunday that the first European spotted Rapa Nui, which is how it ended up with the name Easter Island.
  • Those video game villains I asked ya ’bout yesterday were all from The Legend of Zelda.

Today’s Trivias

Trivia 1

Rapa Nui sounds kinda like Mata Nui, which is the home island (Mata Nui is) a’ the creatures in what Lego franchise that ran from 2001 to 2010 (plus a li’l reboot in 2015–16)? The francise followed the Toa, a bunch a’ mask-wearin’ elemental warriors, who fought the villainous Makuta.

The similar-soundin’ names aren’t just a coincidence; the Lego franchise yoinked all SORTS a’ words ’n’ names from Polynesian cultures for their robo-fantasy world. Matter a’ fact, they actually got into some hot water with a few Māori tribes for appropriatin’ various Māori words! Lego eventually made some vocab changes to their product line so as to avoid a lawsuit.

Trivia 2

Who wrote the memoir Big Dumb Eyes, which topped the New York Times’s nonfiction bestseller’s list last week? Ya mighta also seen this Tennessee-born comedian’s name in the news recently when they announced he’ll be hostin’ the Emmys later this year.

This guy shows up in my Instagram feed sometimes, but to be honest it was only recently I found out he’s kinda a big deal. Apparently he had the highest-grossin’ comedy tour of 2024, out-drawin’ names like Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, ’n’ Trevor Noah! So I feel like he’s probably fair game for trivia purposes.

OK then

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

If ya give me your email address, I’ll send some trivias to ya! No joke!!!
