The postantepenultimate issue of the season
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
It’s the day before the last day of this trivia season! It’s the penultimate day! I’ve already missed my chance to use the word “antepenultimate”, ah jeez!!
But so anyways, I’ll be on a li’l break after this week & back at it in the first week of April – at which point I’ll FINALLY have my long-threatened & hotly-anticipated trivia answer submission website thing ready to go! So that’s somethin for youse guys to look forward to, maybe??
Answers to Last Time
- It was the wrestler Booker T who got a Bad Bunny song named after him.
- Cadillac’s gonna be joinin the F1 circuit this year, very excitin stuff.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
The original publicity story about Booker T. & the M.G.’s was that “M.G.” stood for Memphis Group, owin to the fact that the band was from – youse guessed it! – Memphis. (In point of fact they were actually named after the MG sports car, which if I’m bein honest I didn’t even really know about as a brand until just a minute ago.)
Booker T. & the M.G.’s were the house band for what Memphis record label, which started out as Satellite Records but changed in 1961 to a name that I was surprised to learn was a portmanteau of its two owners’ last names?
Trivia 2
I mentioned yesterday that Booker T. Washington was the first leader of Alabama’s Tuskegee Institute. Well, didja know that Tuskegee was originally founded as a school to teach teachers?
A school to teach teachers sounds a li’l funny, like it’s redundant or somethin – but really it ain’t all that unusual, when ya think about it. In fact, it’s downright common sense! Teaching’s a skill, just like any other – & it’s expected that ya gotta go to school to learn skills, right?
Anyways, what word is used to describe this type of school, one that trains teachers? Illinois State University was founded as one of these types of schools, which is where the town where it’s located got its name from.
OK then
