Skeleton Trivia for Monday, 2026-01-05
Who’re you calling Akzidenz-Grotesk?
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
It’s a new year! But it’s the same ol’ Skeleton Trivia.
Well, not ENTIRELY. Some minor changes:
- Instead of havin’ a monthly leaderboard, we’re gonna have six-week-long “Seasons”. There’s gonna be four seasons in a year & I’ll take breaks in the spring, summer, fall, & winter.
- I have a new website that my pal Milo’s workin on, which’d be a replacement for the kinda janky Google Drive setup I use for when ya submit your answers & the leadboard. The site’s lookin pretty good!! But it still needs some touchin up, so I can’t use it just yet. My hope’s that it’ll be ready to use in April.
OK, blah blah blah, enough admin, let’s do some TRIVIAS please & thank ya!
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Ya might not know the name of Swiss designer Max Miedinger, but I’d bet good money that ya see the fruits of his labor pretty much every doggone day! He was workin at Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei in Basel-Landschaft in 1957 when he came up with somethin called Neue Haas Grotesk, which was based offa an earlier design called Akzidenz-Grotesk. By what name is Neue Haas Grotesk more commonly known nowadays?
Trivia 2
“I’m Emily Elizabeth, and I have a dog.”
That’s the first sentence of what book, which went on to spawn a whole 91-book series? Li’l Emily introduces herself & her dog in more or less the same way at the beginnin of each one. (OK, if I’m bein completely honest I guess I haven’t checked EACH & EVERY ONE to confirm this, but I checked like 15 of ’em so I’m OK with extrapolatin here.)
OK then
