Skeleton Trivia for Monday, 2026-02-02
“War clouds have blacked out parts of the shadow” is Extremely Metal
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Happy Groundhog Day! It’s the time of year that everyone’s attention turns to Pennsylvania to everyone’s favorite li’l groundhog (a.k.a. whistle-pig) (a.k.a. monax, red monk, land beaver, or even siffleux for any French Canadians in the audience) – I’m talkin of course ’bout Punxsutawney Phil.
Answers to Last Time
- Walter White tried to pawn off his gettin kidnapped as just some kinda wild fugue state (though apparently the more psychiatrically-approved term nowadays is dissociative fugue).
- It’s canon law that’s law to do with church stuff.
A fugue & a canon are both somethin that ol’ J.S. Bach liked to write when he wasn’t puttin together concertos for the Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt.
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Here’s a pic I snagged from Wikipedia showin that the groundhog’s historically tended to see its shadow way more often ’n not.
![It’s a table showin how Punxsutawney Phil kinda sucks at predictin. The thing that’s important from a trivia perspective is a line of redacted text that looks like: "\[REDACTED\] of winter" (109)](https://www.skeletontrivia.com/content/images/2026/02/2026-02-groundhog_history.png)
If ya look at the li’l legend below the table, you’ll see I redacted three words under a bright red box. The first of those three redacted words is what number?
Trivia 2
Let’s go Jeopardy!-style for this trivia: I’ll give youse guys an answer, & your job’ll be to give me the question. Got it? OK, here’s the answer (accordin to a New York wildlife tech named Richard Thomas): “about 700 pounds (320 kg) on a good day, with the wind at his back”. (Your answer should be at least 7 words long, please.)
OK then
