I’ve heard Cththlog N’ghlth Nyar’th’s got a really good barbecue joint
Hiya Skeleton Crew,
Great news! I was tryna figure out some place to go now that my Airstream’s in good shape. I was in there, pacin back & forth & rackin my cranium for ideas, when I guess I musta tripped over some kinda who-knows-what & fell down. While I was lyin there with my zygoma on the ground, I noticed a weird li’l cupboard underneath the table that I’d missed durin my cleanup.
Long story short, I found this map in the cupboard. The map’s kinda weird, ’cause I definitely recognize some of the roads & landmarks on it, but everythin’s also a li’l bit … off? Like, there’s Micimec U. on there, there’s that ol’ airfield where Roy lives, there’s all the expected highways & whatnot – but there are a few towns I can’t say I ever heard of, places with names like “Crystal Lake” & “Murderer’s Bend” & “Cththlog N’ghlth Nyar’th”. Then there’s the whole northeast part of the map, which is just a big forest that I ain’t never seen or heard of.
I dunno. But it seems like it might be a kinda fun place to explore, don’tcha think?
Answers to Last Time
- Gymnast Jordan Chiles’s mom was a huge Michael Jordan fan, which is how she got named after the NBA superstar.
- The Polaris Prize goes to the best Canadian album of the year. I had some trouble findin an official explanation of the name of the prize, but I think it’s pretty much because … Polaris is the North Star? & Canada is famously far north?
Today’s Trivias
Trivia 1
Since we had some Before-&-After fun yesterday with Michael Jordan Chiles, let’s keep goin with that for another question, why not?
Can ya tell me what athlete & actor was super busy in the ’90s, winnin their second through fifth Olympic gold medals (two at Albertville, two at Lillehammer) & snaggin some high-profile roles in movies like Set It Off, Gattaca, & Deep Impact?
For this one, I’ll give ya credit for answerin with just the shared first/last name – ya don’t gotta do the whole before & after if ya don’t wanna.
Trivia 2
Alexander Key wrote a book in 1968 ’bout some orphaned teens with supernatural powers who follow a mysteeeeeeeerious map. (’Cause what else are ya gonna do with a mysteeeeeeerious map, right?) At some point on their journey they discover – or I guess … realize? Figure out? Remember? Anyway, the point is that we readers find out that these two kids are actually ALIENS! Wowza!!!
Ya might know the story better from one of Disney’s various adaptations of it – the most recent of which starred AnnaSophia Robb & Alexander Ludwig as the two protagonist kids.
Anyways, can ya tell me what’s the titular location that these kids are makin their way towards?
OK then
