I was workin so hard on gettin my Airstream back in action that I almost forgot to post today’s trivias!! Sorry ’bout that. Good news is that I just put the finishin polish on ol’ Vardo, which means all’s I gotta do now is … decide where the heck I’m gonna drive her! I’m open to suggestions, if any of youse got any.

Trivia 1

Y’know how trivia folks sometimes like to do “before & after” questions, where two different things get kinda mushed together to make one answer? I always thought someone should do a “Mike Tyson Fury”, since Mike Tyson & Tyson Fury are both famous heavyweight champs!

In fact, lemme check that right now …

Huh, whaddya know: Tyson Fury is NAMED AFTER Mike Tyson! Ain’t that somethin!!

Turns out, there’s more ’n a few cases of this type of sitch, i.e., where a person who’s famous in a field got their first name from the last name of another person who’s famous in that same field. For instance, what Olympian, who won her gold medal as part of a team in 2024, was named after an Olympian who won HIS gold medals as a part of a team in both 1984 & 1992?

Admittedly, I’m kinda stretchin what “same field” means here, since these two athletes competed in pretty different sports. But I feel like “winner of an Olympic gold medal in a team event” is a specific enough thing in common that it’s still pretty notable that one’s named after the other!

Also, lemme be clear: I want the name of the 2024 gold medal winner! NOT the ’84/’92 winner! If ya answer the wrong one, I’m gonna score it as incorrect!!! So it’s OK if ya don’t know the answer, but if ya DO know the answer, just make sure ya don’t accidentally get this one wrong on a technicality!!!!! I’m serious!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since Polari’s associated with gay subculture in the UK, it makes a lotta sense that the Polari Prize is an annual award for LGBTQ+ literature. But don’t confuse it with the Polaris Prize! THAT one’s given out to the best album from what nation? Previous albums that’ve won include He Poos Clouds, Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!, 99.9%, God Has Nothing to Do with This Leave Him Out of It, & Motewolonuwok.
